BlueCross BlueShield of Western New York and the Cornell Cooperative had a plan to promote healthy eating habits in Buffalo, NY with a  branded coolers. This initiative helps address the city’s food deserts, areas that typically have limited access to affordable and nutritious food. Their campaign included donating brand-new stand-alone coolers for fresh produce to local corner stores. Wrapping the coolers in branded vinyl graphics would help draw attention to the easily accessible healthy offerings of fresh fruits and veggies. Of course, OtherWisz was able to help.

We began by organizing a team of our partners to assist with the project, developing a production and delivery timeline and coordinating the necessary steps to accomplish each task quickly. We scheduled the shipment and storage of the large coolers on-site where we could take detailed measurements and plan for the graphics. It is not uncommon for the manufacturer’s provided spec sheets to not match the physical coolers exactly, so some design adjustments were required once our team had accurate measurements .

BlueCross BlueShield sent us their layout comps as a PDF along with their brand assets, including color palette, fonts, logos and images. The original plan was to rebuild print-ready files to match their comp, which we did – but we also offered a second design option that made some improvements to better promote their message, attract consumers and fit the corrected cooler measurements.

The client preferred our alternate version, with new eye-catching layouts that organized the information based on our experience with environmental graphic design.

The revised graphics were designed and sent to New York State for approval, then vinyl printed, installed and re-packaged for pick-up and delivery all within two-weeks. We finished up by coordinating the delivery of the coolers, each to a different location, where they were unloaded, moved in and setup by another of our partners.

This project satisfied the client as well as met the deadline and budget, but even more importantly, we assisted BlueCross BlueShield & Cornell Cooperative in the promotion of healthy eating habits to city residents.
