BENSON INDUSTRIES
Benson Industries is an international custom curtainwall and external cladding manufacturer with over 90 years experience in the industry. Originally founded in Portland, Oregon as the Tom Benson Glass Company, it grew to become a leader of architectural glass manufacturing worldwide. The company’s experience, capabilities, and vertical integration place it at the forefront of its field, but a solid brand was needed to reflect the company’s achievements.
Benson approached OtherWisz Creative in 2017 with the desire to improve their visual identity. This process began with our Brand Audit and Marketing Strategy: a thorough investigation into Benson’s marketing and brand to identify strengths, weaknesses, and how they could be improved.

The custom glass manufacturer has worked on buildings all over the world, including Marina Bay Sands in Singapore, One World Trade Center in New York City, and Sales Force Tower in San Francisco. In addition to their extensive portfolio, the company has global offices in the United States, Mexico, Singapore, and South Korea. It was clear that Benson Industries needed a strong visual identity that could be used in a variety of media applications to unite many employees in multiple divisions.

The new logomark references the industrial sturdiness of the company’s work. The Benson “B” has been sliced with a sharp angle to signify the precision of their high-performance buildings. Much like a glass curtainwall, part of the “B” disappears as it offers a passage through and reflects the surrounding environment, the identity in its application becomes an interplay of space and material.

A new, mobile responsive website
With the new logo design, OtherWisz developed brand messaging and collateral including a new website. The revamped website design focused on the user’s experience by simplifying the navigation and layout. It is now a useful informational resource for company shareholders, potential clients, and the general public. To best present Benson’s work, every project page utilizes the full width of the screen with a large photo, letting the work speak for itself. Additional photos, case studies, and project specifications fill in the details to give a complete picture of the project.

Ongoing brand strategy
After the launch of the new brand and website, OtherWisz has continued to help Benson manage this new brand with the design of unique, custom die-cut business cards. We currently assist the company to keep the website and social media current with updated projects and news posts. We also developed a tri-fold brochure for the contract glazing division, Benson Glass.
