HEART & HANDS
Established in 2003, Hearts and Hands (H&H) is a non-profit that bridges the gap between compassionate and reliable volunteers and older community members who require vital assistance, including transportation, in-home support, and companionship. Their primary objective is to enable these individuals to continue living independently with the help of their network of local volunteers.
Heart & Hands Executive Director, Aaron Carlson, was already familiar with our work when we designed the website for The Dale Association, another non-profit where he previously worked. He expressed his satisfaction with the meticulous approach we took during the development of that site, so when Hearts & Hands began their search for a team to work on their own website, he immediately thought of OtherWisz Creative.
A Custom Website Design and Enhanced Online Presence
H&H had been operating with an outdated website, and after their recent rebranding, it became crucial to revamp their online presence. H&H was looking for a dynamic site that would effectively showcase their work and the people behind it, as well as a website that would rank highly in search engine results when people searched for their services.
Our team conducted several virtual meetings with the client to gain a comprehensive understanding of the organization and its services. Throughout these meetings, we worked on addressing the content needs and how the website would be organized, planning the sitemap and wireframe. By starting with a new set of branding assets, we were able to quickly develop a site comp design that matched the organization’s new visual aesthetics.
User-Centric Design Transforms Website
Besides being better organized and visually branded, we also developed a range of valuable tools catering to both the volunteers, that make up an integral part of the H&H team, and their clients. For the volunteers, we created a dedicated section where H&H can upload training videos streamlining the learning process. For the clients, we incorporated a convenient link to their Assisted Ride Portal, along with a language translator that enables the website’s content to be translated into seven (7) different languages at the click of a button.
Search Engine Optimization and Content Organization
To optimize the website’s visibility in search engine results, we worked with the client to identify the precise terminology and phrases that people would use when referring to their services and conducted a thorough analysis of their local competitors. With this information, we created a new set of SEO-specific content to be integrated throughout the website, thereby strengthening its potential rankings in the search results pages, specifically local search.
As a result, we successfully developed a great new website that better reflects Hearts & Hands. The revamped site not only facilitates better accessibility of information for users, but also effectively communicates the organization’s mission and services. It serves as a powerful tool for individuals to easily locate and understand the offerings of Heart & Hands.
