OtherWisz began working with Joe’s Deli after namesake, Joe Lyons, decided his brand needed a refresh. A brand audit was conducted to take stock of the current architecture of the Joe’s Deli brand and its positioning in the market. Following the analysis, recommendations were made that identified ways to improve the Joe’s restaurant marketing strategy.

The former Joe’s Deli logo was a roughly rendered mark with great potential. The type was swapped out for a more streamlined treatment paired with a detailed, custom illustration of a sandwich with all the fixings, which more accurately depicts the product. The Joe’s Deli message is conveyed in clear, bold text using a fun handwritten typeface.

The new Joe’s Deli website provides information to Joe’s customers where they need it most. The updated brand is made present online through dynamic colors, hotkeys, and professional photography. As there are several different locations – Williamsville, North Buffalo, and the newest Downtown location in Oishei Children’s Hospital – the website is designed to help differentiate the venues and their unique offerings. An easy to navigate interface makes finding daily specials and ordering online a simple process.

Ongoing restaurant marketing strategy pushes exciting happenings and custom catering
Marketing for Joe’s Deli is primarily shared through daily social media posts and updates on the website. Strengthening the relationship between Joe’s Deli and partner The Buffalo Catering Company is an important focus in the restaurant’s marketing that requires clear and consistent messaging. Social media graphics help promote these new happenings at Joe’s Deli as well as provide up-to-date info on daily specials.

The target audience for the business is families and locals, so a grassroots approach was used to build notoriety and encourage brand ambassadors. To attract a strong customer base, we initiated a customer loyalty program that entices people to come back for more.
