Event branding, marketing materials, social media graphics and poster illustrations bring attention to non-profit's annual fundraiser
OtherWisz Creative is a longtime supporter of Literacy Buffalo Niagara. For the last 16 years we have donated our services to produce branded marketing campaign materials for Literacy Buffalo Niagara’s annual fundraiser and even designed their new website. Over time the event has evolved from Coffee and Chocolates to Cocktails and Characters and finally Toast to Literacy. Although the name has changed, the mission has remained the same: to raise awareness for the issues associated with low levels of literacy and to increase support of LBN’s programming of free one-on-one tutoring services offered to those in need.

The Toast to Literacy brand features a simple graphic approach that brings the focus back to the message. The visual style uses a cropped typographic treatment, making the information slightly harder to read. Viewers are reminded of the challenges that people with low levels of literacy face and the importance of LBN’s work in the community. The approach is serious in nature but it helps people understand that their money is going to a worthy cause.
The brand aesthetic was then applied to the full range of marketing materials to promote the event across various channels. The collateral supplied consisted of the event logo, posters, tickets, programs, advertisements, digital marketing and social media graphics.
The event branding for Cocktails in Character won two silver Addy awards in 2014. To help promote their annual fundraising event, we created this set of literary character-themed posters. By reducing well-known characters to simple one color graphics – each matched with a stylized headline and border – we created a game of “guess the book.” Rendered in 2 colors, this striking set of images was presented on postcards, invites, and event graphics. These became popular collectibles for event patrons as they sought to gather the full set of 6 posters to take home.
