Inspiring hope: redesigning PCAWNY’s online presence with a new, user-friendly website
The Pancreatic Cancer Association of Western New York (PCAWNY) is a nonprofit organization committed to raising awareness, funding research, and advocating for those impacted by pancreatic cancer. PCAWNY is more than just an organization; it is a community of volunteers, warriors, and survivors, each with a story to share that embodies the resilience and hope needed to combat the disease.
OtherWisz Vice President and Project Manager, Mark Wisz, offered pro-bono website design services to the organization following his father’s death from pancreatic cancer in 2021. While seeking out local resources that help to support the family members of pancreatic cancer victims, he found PCAWNY online. Recognizing the need that families have for support services, Mark assessed that a better website was needed and that OtherWisz could help.

Our design team embarked on a mission to revamp the organization’s online presence, starting with a complete redesign of their outdated website. The previous site lacked mobile responsiveness and failed to communicate the organization’s message effectively.
Because the PCAWNY is run by a small staff of part-time volunteers, the process took some time. Our refined web design process enabled us to guide them through the planning, design, and launch phases. The result? A modern, user-friendly website accessible across all devices.
Gone are the days of struggling to navigate a cluttered interface. The new site greets visitors with a bright, welcoming design that reflects PCAWNY’s brand. The intuitive layout ensures easy access to vital information and resources.
One of our key priorities was enhancing the site’s functionality. PCAWNY’s volunteer staff now have the ability to effortlessly post events, update content, and engage with supporters. A prominent donate button and “ways to give” section empower users to make a difference with ease.
Through strategic Search Engine Optimization, we’ve ensured that the site can be more easily found by the people that need the organization’s resources.
