Over the past few months, we have been working to shake up our marketing strategy for Joe’s Deli. In the midst of dramatic changes in the Elmwood Village, our objective was to hype up their Elmwood Avenue location. Through the campaign, we sought to better connect with the people who support Joe’s Deli, along with the local community surrounding the area. Joe introduced Happy Hour, Saturday Brunch, and converted the back room into a game room to encourage local patrons to bring their friends and families together at Joe’s.
At one point in the history of Downtown Buffalo, The Gutman Building, located at 19 Elm Street, would have been a dime a dozen. Today, the historic building stands alone, on the corner of Elm and South Division. The rest of the block is essentially one giant parking lot.
OtherWisz Creative Relocates to Downtown Buffalo
The biggest change to happen in the 18-year history of OtherWisz Creative occurred earlier this month. We’ve relocated our office to a renovated factory in downtown Buffalo. After being “cooped up” in our barn for almost two decades, our team needed more space and a change of scenery. We started planning the move last fall — a process that involved internal discussions on our wants, needs, and plans for the future. We spent a couple of months scouting potential locations, determined to find a new home for our business in Downtown Buffalo.
Located on Buffalo’s Westside, Urban Roots is a co-op gardening supply store that sells indigenous plants, heirloom vegetables, and gifts. Our relationship with Urban Roots began when the general manager, Patti Jablonski-Dopkin, started exploring options to market and grow their business. She came to OtherWisz hoping to gain a better understanding of their brand, so we introduced her to our Brand Audit & Marketing Strategy process.

Designing a company’s existing visual brand is always an exciting project. It gives our team the opportunity to direct how a company presents itself to the world, rewriting their unique visual language. Changing a company identity encompasses logo, colors, typography, tagline & messaging — these adjustments directly and subliminally communicate the company’s values and personality. This is not an easy task and it is one that comes with extensive research and a good amount of trust.
